Windows Phone 7 software update !!!?

I expected a major software update which has a big bunch of features to Windows Phone 7 but to my disappointment, Microsoft said in their recent blog that they are going to release only few features/updates!!! :( Definitely this is going to put Microsoft back in the smartphone race…iOS, Android >> way to go…no more competition in near future :)

Ponniyin Selvan

When I was on the train today, I saw three peoples were reading Ponniyin Selvan. Interestingly they were all reading first part of the book, that means they have just started today or few days back.

What made them to read this book? Just for a sake of fun!!! I remember few days back during d40 event, rajini told balachandar that his favourite novel is Ponniyin Selvan. So is this because of Rajini…!!!?

If people started reading this novel just because of Rajini, I would say 1000 thanks to him :)

CES 2011–Android 4G mobiles

Android… Android… Android …when it comes to smartphones, all manufactures are choosing android because there is no other healthy mobile OS competitor in the market. Nokia’s OS is outdated which is good only for standard mobiles. You won’t find innovation in it for a decade.

I feel the only competitor is Windows Phone 7 but Microsoft will have to work hard to bring it up to Android. I don’t know the strategy of Microsoft, initially they have released a series of phones but no updates after that. But I’m expecting a major software update in the first quarter of 2011 which will help to retain Microsoft fans like me J.

Till then let’s see the new entrants from the Andriod which runs on 4G network. But you can’t expect any of these in India at least until we get 3G in all networksL.

Windows Phone 7 phantom data bug

I’m actually waiting for HTC HD 7 in Chennai. Today I have come across some mobile forums to see about + and – of Windows Phone 7 OS. MS is fixing all the minor or known issues and getting ready for next major update but still the biggest issue of Microsoft new OS is data leak.

  • Some users didn’t use much, the bills are showing close to 2GB usage. Some of them are commented like some apps are transmitting data even when the mobile is idle.
  • The phones are connected to Wi-Fi but it actually uses 3G.
  • Some of them are using 2G but still their bills shows they used 3G.

For mobile users, this is not very easy to digest, losing money just for nothing. There is no official confirmation yet from Microsoft on these issues but hope they will not take these lightly.

CES 2011–Tablets

After iPad’s huge success, all are eyeing to capture tablet market where there is no major competitor to iPad. Samsumg Galaxy tab is somewhat moderate success across the world and I believe Galaxy tab will be a success in India too. But still the game is not over but just gets started. We are going to see all sorts of tablets in 2011. So far you can’t compare anything to 10 inch iPad.

There are so many promising tablets which are expecting to be on the market in the first quarter of 2011. Plenty of tablets but I’m giving you a brief about only few.

CES 2011–Technology Concepts

We had some stunning prototypes in this year CES 2011 event. OMG, you won’t believe where we are heading into. You might have seen all these imagination only on movies. Now they are becoming reality.

I had taken only three prototypes to show you what the year of 2011 is going to see…

Samsung Flexible AMOLED Display Concept

clip_image001[4]

Samsung is showing its prototype AMOLED screens (Active matrix (AM) OLED). Definitely they are the next generation of display technology.

This is very thin and you can fold it the way you want. I don’t have further details on this but I remember a video in youtube, a guy reading Newyork times in an e-paper and seeing the footage of a political event. Think so we are getting ready for an exciting experience in the technology world.

Many peoples are working on this type of technology but this is somewhat closer to reality.

Uno III Transforming Bike

clip_image002[4]

Do you believe this is a bike!!!? I actually didn’t believe this initially and I thought this was just for photos. But after some googling, I came to know that this is a next generation bike from BPG Motors. Note that it has three wheels. It’s completely electric and can transform from unicycle to motor cycle while you are riding (I don’t know what it means!!!).

I’m not so interest in knowing about bikes but this one is amazing. Wondering how one can ride this bike in Indian roads!!!

Toshiba's Glasses Free 3D Laptop

clip_image003[4]

Toshipa had demonstrated its kingping laptop which can display 3D without the glasses. I once had a chance in Chennai to view 3D TV with glasses. The demo was awesome but this one is without glasses!!!

Don’t know how they are differentiating 2D & 3D objects in this laptop. When other manufactures are trying this on TV, Toshipa is giving a try on laptops. Worth try!!!
