Ray Ozzie’s Dawn of a New Day

Here is Ray Ozzie’s departure mail Dawn of a New Day.

I don’t know what made Ray to leave Microsoft. In his departure mail, he clearly telling that Microsoft should be taken web as serious area. I’m really sad about Ray’s leaving.

But I’m eagerly waiting for his next move. Another innovate start-up or transforming another company?

Ray Ozzie’s Departure

OMG…Ray Ozzie, who is one of my admirer in the technology industry is leaving Microsoft :(. I can’t believe this. When he stepped up as CTO after Bill Gates, I began to read about him. Because that time Microsoft was in very bad situation in the web arena. Microsoft might be the king on desktop platform but on the fly, Google was a giant. There was no concrete solution from Microsoft to any of Google moves. Everyone was expecting something special force to compete Google.

After Ray Ozzie came in, some of Microsoft employees are blogged that Ray is working on a secret project. But the product was known to many of outsiders. Year later Microsoft delivered Live Services (Live.com, Live mail etc.,) which is the first web strategy from Microsoft. Then the prototypes of XAML, WCF, WPF released one by one. Finally Silverlight came. One of my friend in Microsoft told me that just for Silverlight they have developed all these languages. All these are came from Ray Ozzie. But it’s hard to believe Ray is leaving Microsoft whom I believed so much to take Microsoft to next level.

But still no comments from Ray :(…

Brihadeeswarar Temple (Big Temple) marks 1000 years !!!

I have a great admire on Big temple of Thanjavur and am very glad that this temple has reached 1000 years and still stands best among all wonders. This is one of the greatest temple ever built on the planet.

TamilNadu government has decided to celebrate this in a grand manner. They have arranged an exhibition of ancient chozla period which was held for a week I guess. As I was held up at chennai, I didn’t visit Thanjavur for quiet sometime. Finally I went there on the last day in a rush. Believe me or not, I was there on the long queue for about an hour just to enter. I just had a talk with few of them on the queue who all came from nearby districts. I could see enthu in all of them and were praising our old periods.

I went there with my Canon PowerShot SX120 which was okay to take some nice pictures. But I forgot to bring other batteries as I came in a rush. Blame me. Power went off just after 30 mins from my visit :( I’ve taken a some good shots and missed many rare pictures. I didn’t get any other chance as this was the last day ;(.

Here’s some snaps from my camera…

Thiruvarur was the capital during Manuneethi Cholan. He was a legendary king believed to have killed his own son to provide justice to a Cow.
A stone sculpture depicting the story of the Manu Needhi Cholan (the chariot, the king, cow, calf etc.)  is found in Thiruvarur in Tamil Nadu, India.

Pisiranthaiyar and Koperumcholan.

This is the best example of two souls dwelling in one body. The King, after solving all the political crises in his country, fasts unto his death. Before dying he orders that a tomb next to his burial be reserved for his friend Pisiranthaiyar in the belief that his friend would be with him.

He started building this temple on his 19th year and completed on his 25th year. Its an architectural wonder for completing this magnificent temple in just 6 years.
IMG_0516
This temple was entirely built on rocks. Interestingly rocks never existed in and out of thanjavur. The these stones are brought from Trichy through Kollidam dam. It is about 60 kms away !!!
IMG_0520
This was how the temple was built initially but later we have built few steps across all sides and mandapams.

The height from lingam is 216 feet. See the archietecture wonder here. There is a lot to talk about this. See Rajarajeswaran book from Balasubramaniam.

This is one of the most important place in Ponniyin Selvan. A secret place where pandiyas were gathered to dethrone chozlas.

I’m finishing this post with a rare script. Rajarajan’s elder brother Adithiya Karikalan was killed when he was talking to Nandhini. There were four others was overhearing their conversation and three of them was about to kill him. Finally he was killed but no one couldn’t find who killed him. Researchers was trying to get this script for many years. This was not being found even in Kalki’s period. That’s why you could see he left this part open in Ponniyin Selvan.
